[indiana jones] and the killer ants

November 11, 2008

We’ve just been watching the latest Indiana Jones and when we got to the bit about the killer ants, I wondered if they can really do those things. So I checked it out:

Oh and the story behind the name – the entire compound that my house is in was hit by a plague of ants, not just your friendly, steal your breadcrumb type of ants…these ants were lethal, fire-breathing, giant, blood-sucking…ok im exaggerating but they bite and it hurts (i think they were fire ants), the bigger ones can even make you bleed with their bites.

Anyway suddenly we noticed a few coming out of the cracks in the walls and then suddenly the entire place was under seige, they covered the walls, the ground outside, the roof..I have never seen so many ants, they moved in one massive surge of reddy-brown antness!!

Hmmm – don’t think I’d like that. Anyway, regarding the film, we thought it was maybe a 7 or 7.5 out of 10. Reviews were mixed:

“Though the plot elements are certainly familiar, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull still delivers the thrills and Harrison Ford’s return in the title role is more than welcome.”

… but:

“It really looked like they were going through the motions. It really looked like no one had their heart in it.”

I presume everyone’s seen it?
